Occupy Charlotte
On Saturday I went down to photograph the Occupy Charlotte movement, I wanted to get some great shots and talk to some people and see why they are protesting.

The people I talked with wanted to get the word out that the 99% will be heard, they also want corporations out of government, so the government can be run by the people. Two people I spoke with for a while where Trent Steele and Edward. I started talking to them after hearing their political conversation.
Trent Steele

I asked both men why they where out here at Occupy Charlotte, both men had very similar answers, Trent Said “Corporations need to get out of government and let the people run it” Trent also said “that he is a working man and that he works for everything he owns” as further proof he showed me his ruff hard worked. Edward

Said “That President Obama had made some mistakes” and in his opinion had “hires some crooks” but that he would still vote for him again. Edward proudly held a “corporations are not people sign” and marched on.

The Cabarrus County Powwow Association is a volunteer group of individuals from the Carolinas and Virginia who coordinate an inter-tribal Powwow located in Concord, NC.

They are not affiliated with specific tribes in the Southeast, however a large percentage of our committee members have documented Native roots or are members of a tribe. Thus, we do not have a Chief.  Welcome any person or group to contact us concerning committee involvement or volunteering.

Some time words can not express what needs to be said, such as when one visits the Vietnam memorial. There are thousands of names but no words need to be said.

Just got back from Washington DC and all I can say is what an amazing place to take photos’ I couldn’t put my camera down. The lighting was okay but the cloudy sky made for a great background. My only complaint would be about the heat as it was in the upper 90’s.

Beat the Heat Skate the Beat

This past Saturday I rolled on into the Board Room SkatePark to get some great photos and see what the place was about. The Board Room Skate Park is an indoor skateboarding and rollerblading park with cool sounds and great atmosphere to skate in. They have lessons for all and great summer hours with some open skate time.

The staff was really helpful to me because I am not a skateboarder and it has been some years since I was on rollerblades, so I needed a little direction on where it was safe to stand or not to stand. I also found out quickly that any space was at risk for the occasional flying skate board. As I began to shoot it became clear where the great shots were going to be, plus the skaters were more than willing to work with me on getting some great shots. I’ll tell you it was not easy getting good shots but, thanks to the skaters and their efforts at several tries I was able to get the shots I wanted.

These skaters really worked hard at what they do. I could see this not just from the sweat they were showing but from the reactions on their faces when they landed a good trick. Every time they missed a landing they would try it again and again. As I shot away I could clearly see how much fun it was, you can check out the Board Room SkatePark at Shops on the Green Shopping Center in Cornelius or at their website www.theboardroomskatepark.com/and you can see more of the photos I took at

Hot in the Cititrends today!

It was hot at Cititrends today as Food Lion next door had been remodeling, the construction accidentally caused an alarm to go off. Engine 27 and its crew along with four other engines responded to the incident. Rough wearing that trendy fire gear in 100 degree weather.

The 26.22-second margin of victory on the twisting, 2/3-mile indoor circuit represented a per-lap advantage of only seven-thousandths (.007) of a second after a total of 2,123 laps. Third-place went to defending race winners Carolina Car Care, who trailed the winners by only five laps.
